Timo Sarpaneva (1926-2006) was an influential Finnish designer, sculptor, and educator best known in the art world for innovative work in glass. His designs for Iitala won numerous prestigious awards, most notably those of the Milan Triennale. His work is included in the collections of numerous museums, including the Metropolitan Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
