A Pair of English Art Nouveau Brass and Copper Candlesticks Attributed to W.A.S. Benson

Each with a tapering bamboo form stem surmounted by a flowerhead bobeche and raised on a domed foliate base.

William Arthur Smith Benson (1854 - 1924) was an interior designer and architect who was best known for his innovative work with electrical lighting at its very inception. He was a major designer of the British Arts and Crafts Movement and collaborated with William Morris and was a friend of Sir Edward Burne-Jones.
