The Finnish furniture designer Yrjö Kukkapuro (b. 1933) is a central figure of Finnish functionalism. A freelance designer since the 1950s and a student of Ilmari Tapiovaara, he also taught generations of students at the Institute for Industrial Arts in Helsinki. His work is included in the permanent collections of several museums, including MoMA in New York, the Victoria & Albert in London, the National Museum of Art in Stockholm, and the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
